COOPER CLIMAX T51
Mit Cooper Cars Co., dem Techniker Alf Francis, Rob Walker als Bewerber und Jack Brabham als Piloten hatte beim Grand Prix von Monaco die Ära der Mittelmotorautos begonnen, die die schweren Frontmotorfahrzeuge sehr schnell ablösten. Der Australier Brabham gewann mit dem Cooper Climax T51 1959 den Weltmeistertitel, den er im folgenden Jahr erfolgreich verteidigte. Ebenfalls mit einem T51 wurde der Neuseeländer Bruce McLaren beim Grand Prix der USA 1959 in Sebring der jüngste Grand Prix-Sieger aller Zeiten.
With Cooper Cars Co., the technician Alf Francis, Rob Walker as the entrant and Jack Brabham as the driver the era of mid-engined cars had begun at the Grand Prix of Monaco 1957. As the consequence the heavy front-engined cars were replaced very quickly. The Australian Brabham won the 1959 title in a Cooper Climax T51 to defend it successfully the following year. Also in a T51 the New Zealander Bruce McLaren became the youngest Grand Prix winner of all times with his maiden victory in the 1959 United States Grand Prix at Sebring.
